The mission of the Biotechnology and Biomanufacturing Innovation Center is to leverage these assets to advance biotechnology and biomanufacturing as drivers of the next American Manufacturing in Minnesota.

Delivering Impact

The Biotechnology and Biomanufacturing Innovation Center Seed Grant program is already delivering innovative bio-based solutions that are bringing in new extramural funding and creating pathways for new start-ups.

The six seed grants awarded in 2024 have led to the following outcomes:

  • Matched federal funding and follow-on solicitations for state funding
  • One publication (pending)
  • Entrance for one research team into the Min-Corps program, admission to the national NSF I-corps program, and applications for federal SBIR funding

Announcement of 2024 Seed Grant Awardees

BBIC has announced the recipients of its 2024 Biotechnology and Biomanufacturing Seed Grants. Six innovative projects have been awarded a total of $795,392 in funding, with the aim of stimulating research in key areas of biotechnology and biomanufacturing.
